If it's confession time: I did have a big crush on an otherwise normal
coworker who really liked The Cure and NIN, which was about as
"alternative" as it got in Uniontown in 19[redacted].

However, I'm pretty sure it was Winona Ryder's Lydia Deetz, in
Beetlejuice, that planted the seeds.  I'm sure I'm not the only one
disappointed by the ending of that movie.
