I can understand that from the standpoint of safety, anyway.  Leaving a 
drink sitting unattended is a really bad idea, so if he or she doesn't 
have someone to watch it, it could be a problem.

But, yeah . . .  We've had a smoking ban down here in DC since the 
beginning of January.  It may or may not have negatively impacted 
businesses for about two weeks -- the crowds definitely died down, but 
then again it was also right after the New Years holiday and it was 
really cold out, and the crowd *usually* dies down for a bit around 
then.  Since then it's been pretty much business as usual, though, and 
I've seen no sign that it's hurting any of the bars that I frequent, 
anyway.  And it sure is nice to be able to go out *and* breathe.
