Symptomatic, I think, in an overall decline in interest in "goth" as a
lifestyle or social subculture.

(That's not to say anything about it as a style of music.)

Since I'm digressing all over the place, my theory is that
disillusioned high school kids looking for an identity are getting
into emo instead.  I know that a lot of goths started out as hormonal
youngsters looking for music that reflected their "inner pain," and
kind of evolved from there as they matured.  Without a steady stream
of high school fans of The Cure turning into goths in college, we're
losing the war of attrition.

Also, maybe, World Of Warcraft wins what might otherwise be the
audience for Vampire: The Masquerade.  Hard for me to say on that one.
