You could say it about any bar, nightclub, dance hall, or any other
social gathering of any scene, clique, or secret fraternal
organization.

The many problems with house parties of any size can be summed in two sentences:

One, "Someone is going to have to clean all that up", and two, "The
odds of anything either unexpectedly fantabulous or fantabulously
unexpected actually happening are reduced to near-zero." By going out
we can uphold at least the illusion that we are actively pursuing our
lives.

For the freedom from the misery of sweeping up Cheeto dust whilst
hungover; for the long-shot chance of meeting a total stranger for the
first time, interacting socially, and maybe - just maybe - having our
lives thereby changed forever; for this we pledge our $5 covers. Amen.
