Of course you know that the Beehive is gone, but now so is Tela Ropa, Sam
Goody, and Dave's Music Mine, and Laga. The building next to the Beehive
that used to be Miami Subs and then Burger King isn't even there anymore at
all. The building is just gone, and has been replaced with a tiny little
park-like thing. All the stores in Oakland now, while not exactly upscale,
are certainly geared towards people who want to spend more than 3 bucks for
a large pizza. It's not Walnut St., but that seems to be the way it's trying
to head. Even Pamela's has remodeled and now has a new slick look. What all
this means is that main drag is full of people who have money to spend in
their pockets. Of course, the areas around the main drag are inhabited with
people who, while they don't have money to spend, do have sharp, sharp
knives. Do the math.
