the paranormal thread

One of the more entertaining threads I've read on a list in a while....
Letseee.... There's the time I was compelled to turn off my favourite scene in Empire (the horribly overdubbed "I'll never join you!!!") just minutes before my greatgrandmother appeared to me and asked me to tell her daughter (my grandmother) that she loved her....
Or the time I lost my swiss-army knife... tore my apartment apart looking for it. Pulled out drawers, looked between the mattresses, everywhere. I even moved my 100-lb., 18th-century chest thinking it may have slid under. I was definitely not in my room. And yet.... 6 months later, I find it when I'm cleaning. ...UNDER the chest. I mean, I'd had a friend lift that thing while I looked under it for godsake!
Then there was the time I was walking around downtown State College with my friend Monique, talking about whatever... when my sense of smell kicked into overdrive. (I'd somehow learnt at that point that my sense of smell was somehow linked to my "higher" senses.) I asked her to be quiet a minute ("Why? What's wrong?--" "Just shut up a second!") Not five seconds later, a half-block away a minivan smacks into a convertable... The teenage minivan driver somehow manages to swerve onto the sidewalk, around a telephone pole sandwiching him just inches from the building!... between parked cars and back onto the road where he coasted to a stop... all in the span of several yards. Quite frankly, the odds involved in all of that with no injuries or secondary collisions is astronomical enough. But as we're standing there, everyone in the van is fine and the cops are just showing up... I hear this cacophany in my head. I have to once again tell my friend to be quiet. I hear this jumble of
thoughts, almost voices in my head and I (silently) ask them what they want. (We're just making sure that everyone is all right.) Why are you talking to me? (We're not [talking to you]. You just happen to be listening.) Who are you? They indicated that they were somehow relatives of the people in the minivan. A female sort of presence, with an "aunt-like" feeling about her. I didn't know the people in either car, so I never got to tell them of my experience.
So, yeah, Batz... I'm not saying you didn't throw the alarm clock in your sleep. But I'm moving that one down a bit on the list of probabilities.
Anyway, here's a fun link for you: The Penn State Paranormal Research Society (www.clubs.psu.edu/up/paranormal)

I don't believe in ghosts. But I have no explanation why, when I was
housesitting once, the alarm clock next to the bed flew across the
room at night, waking me up. Assuming I'd thrown it in my sleep, I
plugged it back in and went back to sleep. A little while later, as I
was drifting off, it flew across the room again... and I found that
the power cord was wrapped several times around the bedposts at the
foot of the bed.
