He admitted to me to being "back on medication and feeling good," and
I never pressed for details.  Despite my association with the people
he's threatened, he was always respectful and kind to me, and I
returned the favor.  I've been known to stick up for him in bar
fights, for instance.  I believe he is best described as "disturbed
and greatly misunderstood."  (If you must focus on the negative.)

Unlikely.  With the privatization of prison health care as it is, the
best you can hope for is to come out alive.

Unfortunately, the 3-part expose from the NYTimes that both articles
reference is now archived, and you have to pay to retrieve it. It's a
horrifying read!  I'm sure there are still copies out there that are
accessible, but I can't find them.  It's by Paul Von Zielbauer, and
the first one, on Feb.27th is titled: "As Health Care In Jails Goes
Private, 10 Days Can Be A Death Sentence."
