A brand new bite

As fans of the genre know, it's hard to keep a good vampire pinned
down.Sooner or later they rise with fangs bared to commit more mayhem.Last summer's
"Brides of Dracula" broke all previous attendance records for Michael McGovern's
small but striving Theater of the Night performance company. So this summer
McGovern is allowing his ladies of the night to rise again from their graves in
"Vampire Heart," the second in a planned Vampire Trilogy. Set in Germany and
England at the end of World War II, the play exploresthe question of how vampires
stack up as villains in a society where men such as Hitler, Goebbels and
Himmler are part of the established order. Returning from and as "Brides of
Dracula" are Elizabeth Haag and Jessica Kennedy. Joining them is fresh blood in the
form of Clara Bittner-Rosmiller, who completes the trio of literally
blood-thirsty women."Vampire Heart" opens tonight and runs through June 26 at 8 p.m.
Thursdays through Saturdays at the Gemini Theater in The Factory, 7501 Penn
Ave., Point Breeze. Tickets are $10; $8 for students and senior citizens. Details:
(866) 243-6460.-- Alice T. Carter
