How are the live venues doing that hold just a couple hundred people and
cater to the 21+ crowd?
shows are mixed here in ohio.. (columbus) some venues are 21+ some are all
ages.. I guess what helps us with our venues (we currently have over a
dozen spots that can hold over 200 people that do live shows) is that at all
ages shows we can serve booze and don't have to seperate the unders from the
overs and they can all hang out in the same area. hell.. some of the bigger
clubs are 18+ females / 21+ males. (standard bar rule applies.. if you have
a bar full of women.. you'll automatically have a bar full of men)
while the under 21 crowd doesn't generate that much profitable revenue
(liquor sales) they do put bodies in bars.. which always helps business.
(crowded dance floors, more people to mingle with, etc)
the city of pgh is having big money problems and may be filing for chapter 9
soon. i wonder if throwing some money at the liquor laws could get them
relaxed. the govt. needs to find ways to increase its revenue.. if
relaxing the laws generates more $$$ now might be the time to push something
through the legislature.
i'll be in pgh tonight and tomorrow and I'm curious to see how the bars are
setup. the people going out on a week night.. etc.. etc.. if the numbers
click i'd love to do a place in pgh.
I'm of course concerned about some of the laws in pgh. I have a meeting
with a pgh liquor atty. tomorrow to discuss purchasing a liquor license and
I'll definitely be addressing the 18+ issue with him to see if there's any
interest in the industry to change the current laws.
we're going to try to stop by quiet storm tonight depending on how things
go. maybe i'll see some of you there. i'll be the short, Anton LeVay
looking guy with crazy facial hair and a tall goth/punk looking girlie.
